I love this! An interesting take on most programming games and I'm kind of bummed there isn't a specific tag for this sort of thing. I reckon this has full game potential if the UI is tweaked a bit and some other blocks, modes, robots etc. are added. Good job!
It's not you just don't understand it, the default detection range is 5, with your code if there is any ore within 5 of the miner it will mine without going forward. It's really good if you progress a bit
